| Biographical/Historical Abstract: | The English Language Institute was founded in 1956 to prepare non-native English speakers for study at the University. The institute conducts programs of graduate study, in-service training, research on language teaching and preparatory English language training. The ELI was one of the first programs in the region to use language labs, which proved a very successful method of learning. The ELI also administers the Teaching English as a Foreign Language MA program. |
